Chemical

By Lisbeth Red

I heard recently

that

complex trauma

causes sleep issues that

can be eased

by

sleeping next to someone

you trust

I also read recently

that

a chemical in sweat

has

been found to lower

anxiety

I sleep better next to you

I will curl up into a ball

huddled and alone

in your bed

heart racing

brain racing

Then

you will come

to your home

have you mopped

I will ask

you will strip and grin

climb under the covers

and

pull me to you

I will bury my face

in your throat

and

breathe

the smell

I cannot describe

But

my

heart will slow

at the same pace

as

your

hands that warm

on my

skin

and when you say

I'm going to roll over bubs

I will

place my hand

in yours

drape my arm

Over your body

place my head on

your shoulder

inhale

From

your hair

to the back

of your neck

and across

your shoulders

until

your smell

has rocked me to

sleep
