Love And Chaos

By Sofia Baquero

If I could lock inside my lips those entangled nights we were prisoners of the blue moon

when I saw your velvet laugh for the first time

while we were dancing to imaginary words only we understood

You traced every single mole of my body

and made them into Cassiopeia

at the same time that I waded into the untamed oceans hidden in your eyes

You made me feel like Venus

and I held you like you were Mars

we were diving into ethereal galaxies

and for a split second

I was sure we were the first humans who won a race against time

But the instant you sang my name I drifted to the past

immersed myself in unutterable mistakes

throwing my merciless bones into hollow shadows again

And then

when the sun settled into our weary eyelids

I let you go

instead of asking you to stay
