Summer Sun

By Tilly Aistrop

summer sun is here,

I wish you were close

again

burns on my skin

red like your lips

I wish I still saw you

wish I could hold your balled fist

boney and fragile

like the skeleton of a canvas

you’d surely be painting

I wish you’d paint me again

see me again

but not how I used to look

I wish you could see how I’ve changed –

in the photos I’ve took?

summer sun is here

again

my shadow alone on the grass

I wish I had listened to my mother

when she said time passes fast.
