Talks With Grandma

By Maybri Boyle

Opposite me you sit

basking in the spring sun

we talk about our lives

my future

it’s ahead of me

whilst yours has swiftly passed.

I analyse the intricate details of your face

each line, each wrinkle

a new experience

another heartbreak

a friend gained

a friend lost

a moment enjoyed

all containing so much meaning

so much life.

I am just a witness of this life lived,

viewed through the details of your face

a woman who aged with grace.
