Would You

By Willow Pawlisch

Grandmother, where were you when that storm blew in?

I felt the liquid puddle in the cracks of my skin

A marble mud crusts under my nail beds

Bury me in the ocean churning red

Drink with me

Grandmother, where are you now?

Child, where were you when the house caved in?

Icarus cackled orange ribbons of smoked sin

Heat pressing forgets my wrinkles

Dip my bare feet in that pit of ashes

Burn with me

Child, where are you?
