Written By A Woman

By Cody Austin

Girlhood is an ouroboros, primordial rage, and daisy chains. A Russian nesting doll ornately subsumed on the shelf. Is your desirability authored, were you written by a man or woman?

Are you a fox girl? Bunny girl? Good girl? Are you sitting pretty in your ivory tower? You’re your own prisoner. You’re the guard in the panopticon.

Contradiction is the female condition, I am petrified by men but crave the safety of sleep in the arms of one, is this desire my own, was it written by a man or by a woman?
