An Undeserving Destiny
By Rachel Barduhn
We named hurricanes after women. We gendered countries as she. Yet in the name of hypocrisy, power and beauty are reserved. Only a few fit the ideal mould. Or none at all.
Perhaps hurricanes are destructive and mad.
Perhaps countries are blemished in open wounds.
These are the components for women becoming riddled in poignant hatred.
It is their death sentence.
It is her death sentence.
Swallowed by sullen knuckles.
Scars caused by unattended knives.
But why continue to describe undeserved pain?
For the enemy to feel.
