Syclla
By Amy Spaughton
Remember and beware,
Come between my legs and you may be crushed.
I know you,
I know the dance,
You may know the world,
Or think you do,
But I do not care to know it,
Those rules do not apply here,
I know only the mechanisms of myself.
Eat me as you ate him,
Put caution tape around my neck and call it a school tie,
Hang me with pastel tones,
Reach me, reach me, I dare you.
Between my toes,
It is my world alone,
With my rules,
My dictatorship.
Between my ankles,
You look up solely at me,
At a hand on my knee,
At my eye on you.
Between my calves,
You may steer the ship,
But I am the whole damn ocean,
Swim at your peril,
And remember,
And beware.
